Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The area rug that I am requesting for my students already has a "home". We know exactly where it will go and how we will use it. The 9 by 12 feet area rug will be placed in the front of the classroom and will be used as a gathering place for students. We use the designated carpet area in our classroom for many reasons throughout our school day. We use the carpet area to gather at the beginning of each day to engage in restorative circles. We use the carpet area to listen to read-alouds and to read to ourselves at the end of each day. We use the carpet area for our Writer's Workshop, specifically for mini-lessons and sharing time.
We love to sit as snug as a bug on a rug all together while learning!
The requested area rug will give all 34 students a comfortable space to sit while on the carpet and will help to brighten up our classroom space.
