My students need a rug to do calendar and circle time on. I chose an ABC rug so we can use the rug as a learning tool.
This project expired on October 22, 2014.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My classroom consists of ten special needs students whose needs range from mild cognitive delay, to wheelchair bound who need hand over hand for everything.
All ten of my students are sweet-natured, loving children.
They take pride in their school work and enjoy class. My school is in a lower income neighborhood, and we are a Title 1 school. My class is considered a Moderate Special Education class. My students have many diverse needs. My para-educators and myself take the students into their general education classrooms and assist them in the class, as well as eat lunch with them and shadow them throughout the day. We also work on basic skills in my classroom throughout the day.
We will use the rug we are requesting in two ways. We have an interactive board and we do sit on the floor when participating in Everyday Counts, and then when we do board activities. Another way I plan to use the rug is to request that my students sit on certain letters, that way they are learning letter identification.
This will improve my classroom by giving the students something to sit on while doing morning work.
Our carpet squares are falling apart after many years of use. My students take great pride in their classroom and a new rug will be a wonderful treat.
