I love seeing the smiling faces of my third-grade students each day as I walk into school. Students come to our school excited to learn and need the tools that will help them reach their goals.
I focus on creating a community in my classroom where students feel safe, secure, and motivated to learn.
My goal is to provide a classroom where students feel comfortable in a positive learning environment. With all the challenges from last school year, students deserve a warm, inviting classroom in which to learn!
Students love making paper snowflakes in winter! We create them as a class to decorate the classroom. Along with creating snowflakes, we learn about a man, Snowflake Bentley, who was the first to photograph snowflakes. We read his biography, in a story form, from the book Snowflake Bentley. The book captures students' attention, as it describes Bentley in the 1800's, standing outside for hours in the snow, collecting and capturing the most perfect snowflake with his very cool looking old-fashioned camera!
This engaging biography walks students through Snowflake Bentley's challenges, struggles and successes while following his passion.
With each student reading their very own hardcover copy of this book, they will develop their understanding of not only the facts about Bentley's life, but how to stay determined and resilient through life's ups and downs.
