My Students

My little scholars are sweet as pie with a glimmer of curiosity in their eyes. They remind me of a diverse bunch of goodies in a candy store. Each one contributes uniqueness with hope and a mix of creativity. They love learning and discovering the world around them. They are funny and often unpredictable but always inquisitive and wanting to know more.

My students are all residents of DC and receive free lunch.

Although many experience challenges outside of the classroom, they typically attend school eager to engage with teachers and staff. Because of the current pandemic, they are experiencing uncertainty and concern. My students thrive when there is consistency, clear expectations, and when their needs are met.

My Project

Snip, snap, document! Photography is not only a work of art, it is a way to spread information from different perspectives. There is nothing like being able to document the world with words and pictures. My project is requesting instant cameras for my scholars to use during their research and learning experiences in Social Studies class.

Developing research skills is an important part of my scholars learning.

They are learning to be curious about different topics by questioning and searching for the answers to their questions. My scholars are currently developing their written and oral ability to communicate factual information. The use of a camera will help to capture and record this information. Scholars will be able to creatively display their learning and share with their peers.
