The use of Snap Circuits is a fun and easy way for students to understand how electrical circuits work. Using the student lead model for teaching in my STEM classroom, Snap Circuits allows students to follow their easily understood instructions, and the resulting projects function like a printed circuit board found in most electrical products. Each Snap Circuits part is easily identifiable by a different color and purpose, and each kit includes an easy-to-follow project manual that is based on the LEGO model. The project allows me to see exactly what they are doing, and is great for building creative problem solving and fine motor skills, as well as hand-eye coordination. These circuit lessons and activities guide students in designing, building, testing, and troubleshooting circuits. Students can quickly get my provided feedback on their circuits, as it’s an easy place for them to show and share their work. It’s difficult to bring in real circuit boards and to find electronics that our school district would allow students to take apart and attempt to put back together again. By having Snap Circuits, students will be able to avoid all of these problems and focus on increasing their learning!
