Snap Circuits for Scientific Discovery

Help me give my students snap circuits to engage their 'inner-engineer' and to enhance their problem solving and 21st century skills.

My Students

My students are awesome. They are inquisitive, hard working, and intelligent. They love hands-on projects, working collaboratively with their friends, and solving real-world problems. My students love to do projects that build their self-confidence, all the while strengthening their natural talents and abilities. I love to hear their laughter and to see their ah-ha moments.

Growth, connection, and empowerment; these are feelings and actions that I want to instill in my students.

I want my students to know that mistakes only lead to learning and through connecting with others we can see solutions to problems in a different light. My students encompass a growth mindset and amaze me every day with their tenacity for learning and their stick-with-it attitudes.

My Project

Snap circuits are a great way for students to either work individually or as a team. Snap circuits allow for students to experience trial and error, they provide a way for students to 'see' learning in action, and for students to realize that problem solving is a process that takes time, communication, creativity, and out-of-the-box thinking. STEM projects are an integral part of our school's framework. The snap circuits provided through this Donors Choose project will enhance our STEM curriculum by giving students a hands-on approach to learning about electricity and how things work.

Snap circuits provide an opportunity for inquiry to develop, grow, and for the scientific process to unfold.

Students can conduct a scientific investigation at their own learning pace all the while strengthening their background knowledge in order to grow new knowledge. Students are naturally curious. Snap circuits allow for curiosity to develop into a learning experience which then develops into knowledge. Students of all age and learning levels will develop and broaden their schema through the use of snap circuits.
