Help me give my students the tools they need to become their own publishers. They will use the Kodak photo printer and the photo sheets to take photographs of the subject matter of their books.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in a fifth grade gifted classroom. They come from warm and caring families. Two-thirds of my students have recently exited the ESOL (English Second Language Learner) program in the past year.
My students are eager and energetic learners that love to express themselves and take an active role in the learning process.
They love all aspects of schooling especially working in groups on laptops and hands-on science learning. Together, with my students, we are looking forward to an exciting year.
My Project
My students will be writing and publishing their own stories using the technology already in our classrooms. They will then have the opportunity to use the photo printer to photograph and print pictures for their stories.
My students will become authors and illustrators and then have the opportunity to share their stories with their buddies from younger grade levels.
This will take the publishing process to the next step and make them feel like real authors doing a book reading and a book signing. This activity will also help the primary students by exposing them to literature and the concepts of print.
