Help me give my students a visit from Science Alive to experience personalized hands-on discovery with live animals to nurture their natural curiosity and demonstrate that science is an important part of our everyday lives.
Our students come from diverse backgrounds with many facing economic challenges. Most receive free breakfast and lunch at school.
Our youngest students have a natural love for learning not only in the classroom but in a world that is full of wonder and excitement.
By providing real world experiences and hands-on activities, our early learners will be building a strong foundation for themselves that helps create a lifelong love of learning. They love animals, but many have only seen them in text books and web pages. Science Alive can provide them an hands-on experience where they get to meet animals up close and fall in love with them.
Science Alive means living things! Live animals stimulate a student's ability to look closely and ask questions. They broaden horizons. A Science Alive biologist, along with each animal, will visit every child individually at his/her own desk for an "up close and personal" animal encounter. They will explore how scientists study living things and learn that biology is the study of life. Unlike an assembly, Science Alive engages students by name, talking and exploring together...having fun!
Having an experienced biologist place a living, breathing organism into a child's hands for scientific observation is a powerful tool that can change a life.
Every student will experience an impressive variety of live animals: parrots, chinchillas, lizards, giant snakes, frogs, sloths and armadillos, just to name a few!
For many students, a fascination for animals is a first foray into the world of science. By helping to bring Science Alive to our youngest learners, you will help bring first hand experiences with many unique and amazing animals. This experience will stimulate students' interest in science and encourage them to continue their learning.
A Science Alive visit provides the perfect introduction to the world of animals and will surely be an adventure our students will always remember.
