I work in a school district in East Texas that serves a diverse variety of families. Our school houses Pre-K through 3rd grade, and we foster a family environment among our teachers and our students.
Like most kindergartners, my students are very inquisitive and they LOVE to learn!
My goal is to create a safe learning environment for them, such that every day, they know they are valued, respected, and able to make new discoveries without fear of getting it "wrong."
I consider it a privilege to be a part of my students' lifelong learning journey! They bring so much joy and excitement to our classroom!

I have the honor of teaching 19 energetic and hard working kindergarteners!
Many of my students come from low-income homes and come to school eager to learn. These sweet kids crave learning new things. I want to provide these students with the tools they need to learn and master basic literacy and math skills which will launch them into a lifelong love of learning.
I want my students to come into a warm, welcoming atmosphere where they have the ability to learn and grow.
Providing us with the supplies we need to make this a great year will help them become lifelong learners.
Every day in my classroom, students are given a morning and afternoon snack. Our schedule has a gap of 5 hours in between the start of school and lunch, and that is a long time for a 5 year old to go without food. Many of my students do not have access to breakfast at home, so morning snack is the first thing they will eat. Studies show that hungry children do not focus and retain information. I provide snacks for the students who do not have snacks sent from home. After lunch, we have 3 more hours of instruction time before the end of the day; this too can feel very long for a 5 year old brain and tummy.
Some of my students do not have food at home on the weekends and we send food with them. I always allow these students to take something from our snack cabinet with them. Kids have enough to worry about without having to worry about their food.
