Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
One of the most common questions I hear as a high school teacher is "Miss, do you have something to eat." Although my school gives free breakfast, lunch, and supper, many of my students are still hungry during the day. They may not make it in time for breakfast and have to go through the whole morning with rumbling stomachs.
Providing basic necessities for my students in the classroom ensures they are able to focus and give their best in class.
My students are low-income and in need of intensive reading support. Every second with them counts. By providing them snacks, we can ensure that each student is getting the support they are entitled to.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
