Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at our school are a group of sweet and spunky 3rd through 5th graders. Students come into the building hugging, and happy to see their teachers and other support staff who truly care about them. We are a Title I school with all of our students receiving free breakfast and lunch. Our school has found itself increasingly responsible for supplying many basic needs for our students.

Many of our students struggle to understand and master curriculum content, that would allow them to be truly successful in the classroom.

Behind their smiles and high fives, they are hungry, tired, and stressed. These truly special students deserve extra support to help them through the day.

My Project

Concentrating is hard to do when you are hungry. Studies show that eating a snack mid-morning is good for the mind. Our dedicated students will be attending Saturday school to prepare for the State Standardized Test. These are students who often show up to school hungry. We want to provide them with snacks during this time to encourage and support them. Our school is a safe space for students and offering them snacks will motivate them to continue attending Saturday's test practicing sessions.

These dedicated student are willing to give up their Saturdays, for the opportunity to increase their chances of success on their test.

These mid-morning snacks will help students stay focused on their work and keep their stomachs from grumbling.
