My Project

Our high school is a selective enrollment math and science academy located in a rough neighborhood, but my students travel from all over the south side and beyond to attend. My students are 71% African-American and 25% Hispanic, and over 69% are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. They are driven and motivated; they like to explore STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) concepts and challenge themselves in every way possible.

Learning new STEM concepts is difficult on an empty stomach; I ensure that healthy snacks are always available for my students so they can regain their focus.

We're running low on snacks and our supply needs replenishing. I want to maintain my classroom as a healthy, comfortable place where snacks are always available free of charge through the end of the school year.
