My Project

Learners in my classroom have a variety of situations and needs. Some learners are taking online classes to make up missed credits. They are in my classroom to help keep them focused and on track to graduate on time. Learners often come in tired or hungry. Others are AP learners who are so busy they sometimes forget to properly fuel their bodies. Others fall somewhere in between. But they are all hungry at some point.

The best way for students to learn is to meet their physical needs - feeding hungry kids is an easy fix.

But I can't do it alone. These snacks will help fuel learners' brains so that they can think clearly and stay awake to focus on moving forward. These students may feel defeated and behind. Or they may feel like they have the weight of the world on their shoulders. One thing I know, my classroom is a place where I can provide a safer space for learners. Helping them to feel like they can physically conquer the tasks is one small way to show them we care about them as a whole person.
