My Project

I am the PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) Lead for our K-4 school. In total, we have about 200 students within these grades. We have implemented a rewards program utilizing Eagle Bucks to promote positive choices, excellent attendance, and/or display some of our many character traits such as respect, empathy, and kindness. We are building a community where character and positive behavior matters.

Despite many outside challenges, our students come in daily and try their hardest to make positive choices.

Typically we find students with the most challenging behaviors are dealing with circumstances outside of school beyond our control. So during the school day, we encourage them to be the best they can be. We love rewarding our students for academic success and positive behavior. We appreciate our students making a conscious effort despite their circumstances to push through and do the best they can. It is our job to encourage and motivate our students to do their best. We do this by building positive relationships, setting the example, and rewarding outstanding behaviors.

We are teaching our students the importance of character and making positive choices. Students receive Eagle Bucks for displaying character, making positive choices, and coming to school on time. They are able to redeem their Bucks at the PBIS cart on a weekly basis. I need assistance filling the cart with cool items to reward our students' awesome choices. These items range from snacks to school supplies that some of the students may be lacking. This process teaches the importance of making positive choices while also allowing them to become familiar with using money to purchase items and the importance of saving to get desired items.
