My Project
I teach on the West Side - it is the best side! These children have parents working 2 and 3 jobs to keep body and soul together, if they have parents at all. In the past few years, several of our students have lost their parents due to illness. The neighborhood is a food desert. I have bought clothing and food out of pocket for my students though it is more than I spend on my own family. hard-working students earn rewards in my classroom that involve “Bartels Bucks” which they exchange for various treats. Please help me provide them some small nourishment to brighten their last year of high school. Together, we are grateful for the slightest kindness.
