This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are energetic, curious, and eager. Some of them face many challenges throughout their typical day that make it stressful to stay focused on school. At our school we try to eliminate some of the social barriers students may face so that they can remain focused on school and minimize their frustrations. They all want to be successful, but there are times when they can be distracted by hunger and will avoid participating in school activities because they will have to go too long without food. Sometimes they come to school without eating breakfast and due to late buses or lack of transportation they do not make it in time for our school breakfast.
Our school is 95% free and reduced lunch, and the snacks will help students refocus and maintain academic success.
With these snacks I will be able to provide the students with something to eat so they can remain engaged in school and accelerate their learning from there.
