My Students

RREC is a Behavioral Modification K-12 Center School. The population here are Emotional Behavioral Disordered (EBD), Austism Spectrum Disordered (ASD),and Intellectual Disordered (IND) students. We utilize Positive Behavorial Support (PBS), to aide in teaching replacement behaviors.

As the Positive Behavior Support Team Leader, I work hard to provide incentives that are meaningful to my students and also meet a basic need, such as food.

Students will work for basic snacks since they are often unsure of whether or not they have a meal at home.

Many of my students do not have a balance meals at home due to low socioeconomic status. Having basic needs met plays an important role in the mental health of our students. We are a Title I school and 95% of our students are from economically challenged homes.

Unfortunately, many of our parents are not able to be home at night to help with home learning or provide a balanced meal, and often come to school hungry. Due to this, food is a huge motivator.

My Project

Students at Robert Renick Educational Center, will greatly benefit with the consumption of these snacks. With a 99% rate of free or reduced lunch, my students are challenged every day with hunger. Statistics have shown that students perform academically at a higher level with something in their stomachs.

Students have a desire to learn, and with these snacks we can help eradicate hunger and provide a pathway to success.

These snacks will give my students a better chance of academic, emotional and behavioral success they would not have experience without it.
