This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are 7th and 8th graders. The class is a split class. The school is in a high-needs inner city neighborhood. The students are very interested in learning new things but the school has very limited resources. It is very frustrating having students who love to learn but do not have materials or experiences to support that desire.
I enjoy motivating and inspiring my students to be their best, so understanding and appreciating the value of education is very critical.
They deserve to have educational experiences and resources that support the high goals that they work towards every day. That's why it is so frustrating that all of the budget cuts made by the big decision makers seem to directly impact my students.
I am doing my best to try to bring positive, meaningful learning opportunities to my classroom, and I strive to make it a place that my students love to enter every day.
My Project
When a person is hungry it can be very difficult to concentrate, especially when the task at hand is a very challenging math problem. That is why I am trying to think ahead to conquer any obstacles my students may face during the upcoming school year.
One common issue students face is needing a healthy snack to start the morning off right, or to help make it successfully through the school day.
This is why the healthy snacks such as apple juice, Capri Sun, cereal bars and granola bars in this proposal will make a big difference for my students. I will be able to supply them with a healthy snack option to help them be ready to handle the tasks of the school day.
