Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from across the globe and face enormous challenges. We are a high-poverty school and my students come from many backgrounds. Many are English learners and speak Spanish, Korean, Bengali, Tagalog, Russian, and more as their first language.
My students are a bright, motivated, and incredibly diverse group of middle school students.
I am inspired by their hard work and dedication to learning. In the face of challenges, they are resilient.
As a teacher, I want to inspire my students to persevere as they navigate growing up in Los Angeles during a pandemic. So far this year, we have been distance learning. Every day, I teach English language arts to 7th graders, French to 8th graders. I also meet each day with my advisory students to focus on their social and emotional health.
My Project
Keeping students engaged is a challenge, especially if they are hungry. These snacks will keep my students energized and focused. My students often come to school while skipping breakfast. Students have four or five classes without a meal break. This can feel like an eternity in middle school. These snacks will definitely help with that!
A quick snack can help keep students energized and happy until lunch time.
