My Students

Our school is a diverse community of learners and educators, and we are stronger for it. Our students come from all over Oakland, and they bring a variety of languages, experiences, and history with them to our gorgeous 40-acre campus.

We are a Title I school, but despite the lack of funding, we have a robust academic community.

Our students often have many obstacles to navigate, from long commutes, housing insecurity, and institutional disparity, yet they thrive when given the opportunity.

My Project

While we are all quite excited to return to in-person learning, it will undoubtedly be a difficult transition to being on-site for 8+ hours a day. While we have school-provided breakfast and lunch options if you know teens you know that they get snacky!

Having snacks on hand provides much-needed pick-me-ups for hungry teens.

We will be following safety protocols (no eating in the classroom), but we have created some relaxing outdoor spaces for students to take a break and refuel throughout the day. Full tummies = happy brains! Yay!
