The students of my school are motivated, talented, and unique young learners. Their plans for their futures are so inspirational, it leads me to believe that we teachers and the community as well, owe it to them to do whatever we can to secure these futures. I have no doubt that all of their perspectives, experiences, and ideas will allow them to serve and benefit themselves, their families, and their communities in the future.
Despite coming from various challenges, backgrounds, traumas, and disadvantages, my students demonstrate the resilience necessary to find success in their lives, all the while remaining positive and taking responsibility for their own educations and futures.
My Project
My student's families often do not have the resources to be able to consistently send their children to school with healthy snack options if any snacks at all. This project is meant to supplement these instances by providing healthy snacks to those children who are unable to bring anything.
Having access to healthy snack options promotes regulation and engagement in the classroom.
A hungry student simply will not learn. Additionally, having an empty stomach makes it difficult for them to regulate themselves emotionally. My goal is to provide my students with access to a basic necessity that will promote both their health and education.
