These culturally and socially relevant reading materials will have a positive impact on my students. Many of our students start fifth grade with low self esteem when it comes to academics, especially reading. When students read relatable literature, they become more confident and passionate readers. These books will be split between the three fifth grade classes in our school and your contribution could help as many as 70 students develop a love for reading and for engaging in meaningful discussion. And that is just in one school year! These new, quality books with important topics will surely be used for years to come and will positively impact countless students to come.
