Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are amazing kids! They are excited to learn how to read and write and they understand that in second grade, they should be reading books already.
For me, true learning is a naturally urgent process if students are engaged and have a real reason to learn.
My students want to learn but unfortunately, they have many challenges to overcome in the process. Most of these children started school already suffering from word and literacy poverty.
I teach my students to persevere; in our classroom we do not say "I'm done!". We work hard, we try our best, we do not give up. Learning never ends and busy children are happy students and more likely to become successful adults.
Our school day has extended hours because of the needs of our students. They start school at 8:05am and leave at 3:15. I want to offer snacks on the second part of the day to help my students build stamina and determination. Your kindness and generosity can make a huge difference in the school day of these children.
