My students need snacks for Earth Science Regents Prep study sessions to keep them focused on review instead of their grumbling bellies after a long day at school.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. My goal is to provide my students with hands-on, real-life learning experiences every day.
My students are creative and thoughtful, they like to sing and dance, and they love lots of positive feedback.
Many of them are being raised in single-parent households and receive free or reduced-price lunches. When they walk through my door I focus on what they are capable of accomplishing, and measure their growth throughout the year. By doing this, I hope to inspire them to achieve even the most ambitious of their goals.
My Project
Most of my students travel about an hour to get to school so getting them to stay after school for review sessions can be a challenge. We will not have a lot of time during class to get through all of the challenging material and review for the regents before the exam.
These snacks will provide motivation for students to stay after school to attend Regents Prep.
It is a long school day and students are hungry by the end of it. The Earth Science regents is a challenging exam and students need the extra time during tutoring sessions to master difficult topics and practice.
