Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students choose to come to our High School after unsuccessful attempts to gain credit at their home High School. Our students choose our school because we have a reputation for supporting our students through the up and down lives that many of them lead.

Our students find success as we work together, like a family, to give our students a sense of belonging, supportive teachers and a purposeful classroom experience that prepares them for a bright and hopeful future.

My Project

Healthy habits can begin at home, but our students need the support at school too. My students need healthy snacks and a hat and pair of gloves to give theirs the bodies the necessary fuel and warmth to get through their demanding day of learning.

Our students come hungry with barely a hoodie on to support their learning at GW.

Their learning time competes with their body's need for good food and warmth. My students need to learn to grow- knowing they have a snack waiting for them, may be just what they need to nudge them to come to class instead of leaving school.
