My Students
The acquisition of language, and being able to use it, is often taken for granted by those of us with normal hearing. I have a self-contained class that serves students in grades kindergarten through 2nd. I have the only k-2 deaf/hard of hearing self-contained classroom in the county's public school system and currently have five students who are bused from various districts throughout the county.
My students are amazing, fun, energetic, enthusiastic, and curious learners.
All my students have language delays due to varying degrees of hearing loss. They struggle daily to communicate their thoughts and feelings effectively both orally and in written form.
My students are mainstreamed in regular classes for various subjects and/or related arts activities. Most of my students use cochlear implants or hearing aids to help them hear and acquire language. Their language delays are significant and affect all areas of their learning. Due to their lack of hearing, they are very tactile, kinesthetic, and visual learners.

We have a daily snack and not all of my students can afford to bring one.
It’s hard to focus and do your best when you are hungry!
These various snacks like Cheetos, Sun Chips, Pringles, and trail mix will help keep their tummies full and their minds focused on their learning. It’s important to fuel not only their brains but their tummies too!
Proper nutrition including a daily snack will help students to grow physically and mentally. These are some of our favorite snacks! Please help me provide a daily snack and make sure none of my students go hungry this year.
