My Students

The students at our high school are some of the best and brightest that the city of St. Louis has to offer. They are all intrinsically motivated to excel academically and to further their education and become the next generation of leaders, creators, and innovators. The students on the debate team have chosen to take on extra academic work on top of an already rigorous curriculum to build the skills to become future leaders. Membership in the NSDA Honor Society is one of the most important elements of building an exceptional college application and provides the skills necessary to succeed in Law, Politics and other crucial career paths.

My Project

Speech and Debate is the most valuable extracurricular activity to help young people develop the communication skills to become future leaders. Our students often stay after school until well past dinner time for debate team practices, and tournaments can often run until eleven p.m. or later. Our league provides meals, but the league is also in a reorganizing year and experiencing financial difficulty. In order to continue to offer this valuable activity to our students, it is crucial that we provide them with supplementary nutrition to keep their brains firing on all cylinders during these long and grueling tournaments. In addition, providing healthy and nutritious snacks will help our students build healthy eating habits in their lives outside of school and the team.
