This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work at a special education school, serving emotionally disturbed, learning disabled, and other special education-classified students. Our students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Over 95% of the student body is eligible for free lunch and more than 90% receive public assistance.

My students have exceptional abilities and with the proper accommodations and modifications, they truly thrive in our school setting.

These kids are afforded smaller classroom ratios, personalized attention, and a myriad of specially certified providers that assist in their overall development.

My Project

I would like to secure a variety of food items for my students. Many come to school hungry because they lack the necessary food items at home. We offer free breakfast and lunch, but that is often not enough for our growing teenagers. Having snacks on hand helps them stay fueled and focused.

Hunger should never be an obstacle to learning in school.

Every human needs their basic needs met before they can accomplish anything. I never want my students to feel they lack anything. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated.
