Our students are ready and willing to take on the challenges of 21st-century education. They have many diverse styles of learning and need exposure to 21st-century learning resources. They need to collaborate with their peers and lead by example.
We are 95% African-American, 2% Haitian-American, 2% Hispanic, and 1% Caucasian with 94% of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch.
Our school is located in the inner city of Miami, Florida. Although our students are faced with many socio-economic challenges, they seek a high-quality education to become productive citizens.
My Project
Our school has an afterschool enrichment program for Middle School students. This project will provide snacks and treats for our young scholars. They can eat them during our after-school activities or take them home.
These snacks will help quell any hunger our students may have after the school day ends or before supper.
Providing snacks ensures students will continue to focus on their fitness journey, and not their tummies. Over 94% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Very few students bring a snack to school so this project will provide a much-needed treat if students skip breakfast or get hungry during the day or before dinner.
