Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am requesting snacks my students need to be successful learners! This project is to ensure no student goes hungry during these hard times. Many families are still suffering hardships from the COVID-19 crisis and families of our students have expressed they are unable to afford food at this time. School is not the same and my students are still adjusting to being back during these different COVID times. My three classes of students expressed a need for snacks to help keep them alert and motivated to learn, especially after they exercise and play sports in gym class. This project will help my students to have a snack to help them keep focused and learn successfully and have the energy needed before and after their gym workouts!
“Good food is a right, not a privilege, It brings children into a positive relationship with their health, community, and environment” - Alice Waters
During the math state exam, students sit in silence in one room for the entire day since the test is untimed and they can not speak or take anyone out until everyone is done with the exam. This is not easy for the 12 or 13-year-old. They are stressed out by a hard math question many times. These snacks will help them have a break and something to make them smile as they take their seventh-grade state math test!
