My Students
My class of six and seven year-olds come to school to have a safe and inviting environment where they know they will be loved. Because of the students' socioeconomic status, they don't always have the opportunity to use engaging tools that increases their motivation to learn. We are a Title I school. I want to bring technology with driven and engaging ways to learn in the classroom to make learning fun and exciting each and every day.
I want my students to learn in an environment that they feel most comfortable.
My goal of teaching is to find tools and ways to increase that love of learning and for my students to become lifelong learners.
My Project
At the beginning of each year I ask that each student brings a healthy, non-refrigerated snack for the class twice a month. We have this snack time at a time during the day that students are beginning to get hungry again however it is not time for lunch or time to go home.
If I expect my students to learn in their highest potential, hunger can not be an issue.
Our title 1 campus sits in a low social economic neighborhood where many people struggle to meet the needs of their families. This means that our families are not able to supply this snack to our class on a monthly basis. This snack tends to come out of my pocket as the teacher for the majority of the year. These materials in this project will help offset these costs and provide snacks to students that truly need it.
