Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
One of the most rewarding parts of working with middle schoolers is seeing their growing independence and excitement as they tackle new challenges. However, middle school can also be a time of fluctuating energy levels and increased difficulty with staying focused. It’s at this stage that small changes, like providing healthy snacks, can make a big difference in helping students maintain their focus and improve their overall learning experience.
At our Title 1 school, where many of our students come from low-income families with limited access to food at home, having regular access to nutritious snacks is not just a luxury—it's often a necessity.
Snacks provide our students with more than just a quick break from their studies. They offer an essential source of energy that helps keep kids alert, engaged, and ready to learn. For students who may not have had a consistent or balanced breakfast, or who might be unsure where their next meal is coming from, snacks at school can be a lifeline that helps stabilize their mood and energy levels throughout the day.
