Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a group of 34 fifth graders who come from a variety of different backgrounds. Over half of my students are English language learners, and they have made huge improvements in their English skills. They are all eager to learn and enjoy coming to school every day.
My school is located in a mixed economic area in Sacramento, CA.
Many of my students are being raised by single mothers or fathers, and they have limited access to materials after school is out. We are working hard on establishing a growth mindset with our students to know they can accomplish anything they put their minds to.
My Project
By funding this project, my students will have a nutritious snack pack of food to keep learning at school. It is very hard for the students to focus if they have a grumbling tummy, especially when our school day includes a very long time between breakfast and lunch.
I have found that having food on hand means they can satisfy their hunger and move on to being successful students while learning.
Having food is essential to growth and focus in class.
The variety of snacks include; Goldfish, cheese-its, fruit snacks, stroop waffles, Smartfood Popcorn, Quaker Granola bars in a variety of flavors, Rold Gold Pretzels, Scooby-Doo graham crackers, Rice Krispie Treats, and a variety pack Cookies. Thank you for your support!
