My Project

The items that I am requesting will help get our middle schoolers book clubs started with snacks for meeting days. The snacks will help support the idea of students wanting to attend book clubs to discuss books with their peers as they eat a snack and have a drink. Students must read the required book or chapters in a book and complete discussion questions prior to attending the book club meeting. The goal of the project is to encourage students to read more to improve their reading comprehension and share their thoughts about a book with their peers.

My students deserve to learn the importance of reading comprehension and not rely on Google for all their questions and wonders.

Time will be provided during school hours to conduct book clubs for students in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th. We have a small population of middle schoolers, but yet, our reading comprehension percentage of students on grade level is well below the national average. The expectation is that the book clubs will help support students' improvement in reading comprehension.
