My students are amazing! They surprise me each and every day and keep me learning more for them. We seriously have some of the best students in our small-town elementary school.
My students are always ready to try something new, because of that, I want to be a better teacher every day.
I want to grow with them!
Our school is over sixty percent free or reduced price lunch recipients, but together our community, parents, and staff work to get us everything we need. I am so grateful to have wonderful people like you also partnering with us to help get our students everything they so deserve.
My Project
At the beginning and middle of this year donors came together to fund a project just like this one. My students have loved these snacks. They eagerly grab a snack each morning and then helped themselves to an after school snack to take home too. It has been such a blessing to be able to provide this for them.
Having a full tummy will in fact allow my students to work to their full potentials!
Every day my students come back from specials. They have worked hard all morning. A few grab a milk from the cooler, some grab a snack from their backpacks, but many do not. Our snack bin is all empty. I know I will try to bring more snacks in as often as I can, but I can't keep up with the demand. Snacks can be expensive and on the list of demands, they end up on the bottom of the list for families.
I know that when I have had enough to eat, I work my best. I don't like the fact that some of my students can bring snacks every day and some can't. I also want to give my students the opportunity to take a snack home to have after school too, so this project would do that too! Most students don't have these healthy options available at home. These snack options were picked by my students, so I know they will be well loved!
The gum would be perfect for focus! We have many students who have a hard time focusing on the task at hand. I use gum during tests, but I'd like to be able to allow students to chew gum at any time.
