This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students come to school ready to learn, but it is hard to focus when your stomach is growling. Some of my kids eat breakfast very early or skip it altogether, and by mid-morning, they are running on fumes. I want to keep them focused on reading, writing, and problem solving, not worrying about when they will eat next.

Providing snacks in the classroom will give them the energy boost they need to stay alert and engaged.

It is amazing how a granola bar or a bag of crackers can turn a tired, distracted kid into one who is ready to participate and keep going.

I teach a group of kind, funny, and determined students who deserve to feel cared for in every way. Snacks may seem like a small thing, but they send a huge message. We have you, and you matter here.
