Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
It is my goal to establish a much-needed snack and incentive corner in order to provide a healthy snack (baked cookies, Nature Valley bars, healthy mix, nuts, fruit snacks and blueberry biscuits) to my students between breakfast and lunch on a daily basis. Having a snack between meals prevents you from becoming so hungry that you reach for unhealthy junk food. Many of my students do not have a healthy breakfast at home so they tend to start getting hungry before lunchtime. Healthy snacking provides a child’s brain with the nutrients it needs, and missing out on healthy snacks can negatively affect school performance.

I plan to hand out a daily snack to my students during our recess time. This will allow my kiddos to stay on task and focused as they engage in their educational endeavors.
Additionally, I recently took on several academic intervention groups of students with special needs and it is for this purpose that I am requesting the desktop organiers and basic supplies such as pencils, markers, pens tape, and erasers in order to maintain a fully stocked activity area. At this area students will engage hands-on math and science activities using the requested manipulatives (geo shapes, magnets and timer, incentives and class supplies for their lessons. This specific group of students learn best by engaging in fun, hands-on learning experiences and it is my hope to have the materials necessary for my kiddos to remain engaged and focused on their academic goals. Upon completeing their activities it is my intention to provide incentives such as the requested candy, supplies, snacks and fidgit toys.
