This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We have many LGBTQ students at our school and are building structures to support a culture where these students feel safe, seen and celebrated. Every week, we have meetings during lunch time to discuss relevant topics, check in about our lives and plan events. There isn’t funding for snacks or supplies for these meetings and some additional resources would help make the space welcoming for our students. Students also want to have movie events and other school wide events that share the stories and experiences of LGBTQ students. These supplies would help attract more students to these events and build the safe, inclusive culture that our students deserve.
