My Students
My students are a great group of kids. They are 9th graders, and many have autism and other developmental disabilities or special learning needs. They need more than a teacher who tells them what to do; they need an adult who will listen to them and work with them on their individual needs.
In the words of Temple Grandin, "Kids have to be exposed to different things to develop.
A child's not going to find out he likes to play a musical instrument if you never exposed him to it."
My classroom assistant and I create a positive and interactive learning environment where our kids know that they are welcome, loved, appreciated, are safe, and can succeed.
My Project
Your kind donation will fund snacks for rewards and Dial liquid hand soap to keep the germs away. Your generous gift will further encourage independence as the students will take control of their handwashing process. Good health and hygiene are needed, especially in places of mass gatherings such as within classrooms.
My students have Autism and other special needs and already have picture cards with the handwashing sequence.
They need a gentler soap that will not discourage this necessary skill that we all should engage in daily. Thank you!
