Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work with inner-city low-income students in a multicultural area who are primarily minorities. Most of my students have experienced some kind of trauma. They have limited access to mental health and community resources and face challenges every day that keep them from accessing care and basic needs. They are hardworking and loving students who need the community to wrap around them to help them be successful.
My Project
Help me give my students snacks and drinks for them to have during social learning and times of crisis. It's amazing how much difference meeting a basic need helps my students. Many of our students are hungry and are always grateful for a snack. They often do not have money to bring during snack purchase days. It's surprising to hear a student say, "Really for free...thank you!". Your contribution will help students be able to calm themselves and meet a basic need at the same time. It really does take a village and we thank you.
