My Project
At SITHS, our students face academic pressure, and many struggle with anxiety, depression, and even food insecurity. As the school social worker, I provide a safe space for students to process their emotions, build resilience, and find support. One of the simplest yet most powerful ways to connect with them is through food. Studies show that having one positive supportive adult influence can change the trajectory of someone's life. What may seem like a simple offering of a pack of Goldfish might be our "in" to the beginning of a therapeutic relationship for years to come.
Why We Need Your Help:
Our counseling sessions take place during lunch, and many students don’t have access to proper meals or snacks. Others come in but struggle to open up. A snack can be a bridge to conversation, comfort, and trust. Unfortunately, we lack the resources to provide these essentials.
With your generosity, we hope to stock healthy snacks and purchase a mini refrigerator to store food for students attending counseling groups. This will allow them to feel secure, nourished, and ready to engage in meaningful conversations.
Your donation will:
Provide nutritious snacks for students who may not have access to food.
Fund a mini fridge so students can safely store their lunch and snacks.
Help foster a supportive, stress-free environment where students can open up.
For many students, a counseling room is the only place they feel truly heard. With your help, we can make it a space where they also feel cared for—one snack at a time.
