This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students attend a public high school neighboring a large city. Most students in the school qualify for free & reduced meals. My students receive special education support in their general education classes for a variety of disabilities such as ADHD, specific learning disabilities, emotional, hearing, and/or vision impairments,. All of my students are on a diploma track which may or may not include vocational training in addition to exposure to a college-prep curriculum. Students with disabilities make up 14% of our total student population. They need all of the support they can get.
My Project
There doesn't seem to be enough time in the day to accomplish everything that needs to be done, in the life of a student and of a teacher. And all of that effort makes for hungry stomachs. We need to feed our brains for get more learning done! Students are hungry to learn and need snacks & drinks to feed that hunger and as an incentive to stay after school for tutoring. Please help us to convince our students to stay after hours for the support they need with much needed nourishment for their busy bodies and brains. No one can learn and learn best on an empty stomach!
