This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is a Title I school that serves a low socioeconomic community with over 90% qualifying for free or reduced-price lunches. My students love to learn, and it makes me want to be a better teacher for them daily.
My students come to school not only to learn academics but to learn to be a part of a community.
My students love to come to school to learn new things, as well as how to be friends and helpers in their community.
My students make my job so fulfilling and I love to give back to them whenever I can.
My Project
When a school day is long, little kindergarten bellies are grumbling and interrupting instruction. With your help, I can help provide afternoon snacks so the hunger doesn't strike when I am trying to teach!
Children need academic instruction, but they also have human needs that should be met without leaving the classroom.
Providing snacks for my students in the classroom means that we are not spending instructional time sending children to the office and interrupting instruction.
The snacks I have chosen are easy and healthy, having vegetable, fruit, and grain servings. These snacks are popular and will be appreciated by all of my students.
