Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are determined to succeed. They overcome tremendous obstacles just to show up for school each day. They come from a high poverty neighborhood in Pennsylvania. Our school is situated in a neighborhood plagued by violence. I teach grades Pre K - 8th grade, so my curriculum needs to be very diverse.

Many of the children we serve come from single-parent homes or are living with grandparents or even in foster care, but they show up ready to learn and determined to succeed.

My job is to help them reach that goal. I would love your support.

My Project

Our students sometimes come to school facing so much before they even walk through our doors but being hungry should never be an issue for any child. Our goal in the public school system is to make sure every child feels welcomed and loved. As teachers, we try to provide everything they can possibly need to get through their school day from supplies, to snacks , and sometimes just love. My students love having the options of chips, cookies, pretzels, and crackers. Having access to snacks at any time allows them to do what they come to school for and that is to learn. If they are hungry it is hard to focus on anything else.
