Snacking For S-T-a-R-v-I-N-G Second Graders

Help me give my students snacks for students who are unable to bring a snack from home. Our lunch is at 12:48pm every day and the kids are "starving" by the time we get to go to lunch.

My Students

I teach at a school where many parents struggle to afford things for their children and families.

My students come to me with many needs, including needing help with academic skills, as well as emotional stress.

Many students rely on food provided by the school as their sole nutrition for the day. Some students have families that are not able to provide snacks for their child because there is no money in their budget for it.

My Project

KIds love to eat and will snack on anything they can find. Snacks provide a boost of energy for kids who need a little something to make it through the day. Some families are unable to provide snacks for their children so, it becomes up to me to find snacks for students in need. I have spent hundreds of dollars on food and water bottles for students already this year and I really could use some help.

Our lunch is the last lunch of the say so the kids get to school at 8:45am and don't get lunch until 12:48pm.

By providing snacks to students who don't have them, they can eat something small and continue to work without worrying about their stomach rumbling or making noises in class.
