Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach second grade in a Title I school. Although my students may live in an impoverished neighborhood, my students are vibrant and will brighten up your day! They can be an energetic bunch! They are hard workers and love to show this to anyone who walks into our classroom or whoever they see in the hallway!
My students are an amazing group of children with different abilities and personalities.
They are busting at the seams to learn. They are excited to learn and grow.
My Project
I have a class of hungry, hungry Second Graders! Hungry to learn that is!
School can teach you about many different cultures from around the world and so can snacks!
One way for students to learn from other cultures and countries is to try their foods. This project is for snacks and treats from close and far away countries and continents! I have requested snacks from Mexico, Japan, Australia, and Turkey.
Food is a commonality that all people need in order to survive. My students will be comparing and contrasting the flavors and textures of the snacks to the snacks they commonly eat in the U.S.A.
My students will be filling up their bellies while filling up their minds with information about other cultures and their foods. Not all my students bring in snacks every day, so this is a great way to expose my students to new and exotic snacks that they might not normally experience elsewhere.
