My Students

I teach in a high poverty/low-income area with a high English language learner population (ELLs). This year I have twenty students in my first-grade class. They all come to school each day with a great attitude and willingness to learn.

Due to another COVID year, our school day has been extended and these littles are in class now longer than ever.

They receive breakfast and lunch at school. I would love to be able to provide them with a snack late in the afternoon to tide them over until dinner at home.

My Project

My students will be able to enjoy an afternoon snack to help their minds and bodies stay awake and fresh for the remainder of the school day. Many of my students look forward to school as a place they know they will receive two meals a day. Most are hungry before leaving school at 4 pm.

This project will allow me to offer students in my class a snack that will energize them and help fill their bellies.

We all know, if you're hungry you will not do your best learning.
