My Project
There is no sadder day than when you reach into the snack bin to stop your tummy rumbles and the bucket is empty. You can hear the rumbles coming, it's rolling round the bend. And you ain't seen a snack since you don't know when. When you hear that rumble coming, you hang you head and cry. You're stuck in 2nd grade so hungry, you can't even try, try, try. (cue cool guitar riff)
Food insecurity and hunger is an everyday occurrence - having a little something to help you get by until lunch makes all the difference.
Suddenly, you can keep trying. Those big feelings you have been having begin to quiet because it was actually hunger. You are able to focus again. A little food can make a huge difference during the day for a student between meals as they are growing and learning. Goldfish crackers, fig bars, pretzels, Cheez-It crackers, and more make for a quick snack break and back to learning.
