Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a teacher at a vibrant, multicultural public school in New York City, I work with an incredible group of multilingual learners from diverse backgrounds. Many of my students live in temporary housing situations, and food insecurity is a daily challenge they quietly carry with them into the classroom.
It’s hard to concentrate on reading, writing, and participating in class discussions when your stomach is empty.
That’s why I’m requesting a selection of nutritious snacks to keep in our classroom to ensure my students have the fuel they need to stay focused, engaged, and ready to learn.
These snacks will be available during classwork, after-school programs, and testing days to give students an extra boost when they need it most. From granola bars to fruit cups and trail mix, your donation will help create a supportive, caring space where no child has to learn on an empty stomach.
