Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Many of the students in my classroom have experienced trauma in their lives, and school is their safe place. My classroom serves students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, autism spectrum disorder, and specific learning disabilities. My students work hard and they love to explore, discover and learn.

The typical student in my class struggles with basic phonemic awareness and letter recognition.

About 90% of my students are African American or Latino. The opportunity and achievement gaps are apparent among our student population.

My Project

It has been a struggle this year to keep my students healthy and their little tummies full!

We have lunch at 10:30 and the students need a hearty snack in the afternoon!

It would be so wonderful to have a wide selection of individual snacks from which they can choose something they like! I have been buying daily snacks for them on my way to work, but it would be so wonderful if I could have some snacks here at school incase I don't have time to stop on my way in.
